The Guggenheim Abu Dhabi is a planned art museum project in Saadiyat Island cultural district in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. At 30,000 m2, the museum is planned to be the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation's largest facility. It has been designed to accommodate approximately 12,000 m2 of exhibition space located in an architectural masterpiece of a building.

Project Delivery

The smoke control design for the building was carried out by a third party in 2014/15 and was designed based on 2011 UAE FLS code. The contractor understood the FLS strategy would need to be revalidated based on the applicable code. The contractor's aim was to add value to their bid by optimising the atrium and gallery smoke control system performance and cost based on compliance with the more recent UAE FLS Code 2018. Joule Group conducted a detailed review of the current smoke extract strategy and provided recommendations to optimise the system performance and cost.
